Zerg is, in my opinion, the best and most disturbing race in StarCraft. They are the quickest to get a rush together, being able to usually attack before any other race. They are the best expanders, being able to take over the map and limiting the resources of other players and can orchestrate strategic hit and run operations. One of my favorite strategies is to send around a group of mutalisks to the enemy’s unguarded mineral patches and take out their workers. If its guarded, I will just fly to the next one. Chances are I will find a weakness. This is why they are the best, but why are they the most disturbing? Because every time I play them, I can’t help but think how their strategy closely resembles Satan’s strategy.
The enemy of our soul is also quick to mobilize forces and will send his attackers to limit our resources and keep us down. Sure there will be moments of our lives where he will relent and we can prosper, but he will come back with overwhelming force in our moment of weakness and once again take out our supply lines. Upon accepting Christ, we gain the ability to build up a defense. We build some bunkers and set up some siege tanks to create a defensive front that will stop many of his assaults, but it does not end. Even though we are protected, we are still trapped in our little life while he owns the rest of the world. If we start to move out to expand into the dreams God promised us, the enemy agros and attacks us, keeping us isolated. And if that’s not enough, there is a group of mutalisks flying around hitting us where we are weak. We set up turrets on one side, but he seems to be able to find our weakness all the time and knows just when and where he’s disabled us. This is the enemy we face. So what is the plan?
Well the enemy is all about fear and lies. He has a strong outer shell, but inside he is weak. The good news is we have to realize that with God our resources are endless. If we get damaged, he will repair u. If we run low on resources, he will replenish us. Sure we may feel cut off at first, but we cannot despise small beginnings. In this defensive phase of our lives we are being trained to fight and defend ourselves. We are growing in our tech tree and in wisdom so that when we do venture out, we will be ready.
There will come a time, after times of worship, reading his word, and seeking his face, that we gain enough research to be able to produce units that far out power the enemy. We will be able to send strategic nukes into his land with cloaked warriors through prayer and intercession that can destroy his defenses without even getting hurt. We will send fleets of battle cruisers equipped with a defense matrix and supported by Thors and engineers and be unstoppable. Let us embrace the early game and prepare for the end game victory.
